SUMMARY

GPS Speedometer - Odometer HUD is a GPS speedometer, trip odometer and drive history app. It reads your device's location to show your speed, distance and route while you are using it, and to build your journey history and lifetime odometer.

It never sends your location, your routes or your journeys to us or to anyone else. Its route maps use Google Maps: see "Google Maps" below.

There is no server behind this app, no account, no login and no advertising.

The one thing that can leave your phone is optional: if you turn on Settings > Privacy > Share usage and crash data, the app sends anonymous usage counts and crash reports to Google Firebase details below.

This option is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off again at any time.

WHAT DATA THE APP ACCESSES AND WHY

Precise location

The app accesses Precise GPS/GNSS location information, which may include latitude, longitude, speed, accuracy, altitude, bearing.

This information is used to calculate Your speed, trip distance, duration, average and maximum speed, route shape and lifetime odometer.

Precise location is used by the live speedometer, HUD, drive recording, journey history, insights and map screens.

Approximate location

Approximate location is requested alongside precise location so Android can offer you a Precise or Approximate choice.

If you choose Approximate location only, the app informs you that it cannot provide a usable speed reading rather than showing an inaccurate speed.

App preferences

The app stores your own preferences, such as units, theme, alert threshold, calibration, and similar settings.

These preferences are used only to remember how you have configured the app.

Optional Usage and Crash Data

Only if you enable Settings > Privacy > Share usage and crash data, the app may send anonymous usage events, crash reports and an installation identifier to Google Firebase.

This information is used to understand feature usage and help identify and fix technical problems.

DATA THE APP DOES NOT ACCESS

The app does not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, call log, messages or other applications' data.

The app does not require an account or sign-in.

LOCATION IS PROCESSED ON YOUR DEVICE

All calculations performed by the app, including your speed, distance, route shape, history and odometer, are processed on your device using your device's GPS receiver.

Your location, routes and journeys are not transmitted by this app to us.

This app does not operate its own server and does not contain advertising software.

OPTIONAL USAGE AND CRASH DATA — GOOGLE FIREBASE

The app includes Google Firebase Analytics and Google Firebase Crashlytics.

Both services are switched off when you install the app and remain off until you turn on Settings > Privacy > Share usage and crash data.

You can turn this option off again at any time.

When Usage and Crash Data Is Enabled.

The app may send information over an encrypted connection, including:

Usage events:

Examples may include that a screen was opened, a drive was started or saved, or a setting was changed.

Certain numerical information is rounded into broad ranges. For example, a drive may be reported as a range such as 1 to 5 km rather than an exact distance.

Crash reports:

Crash reports may contain technical error information, the app version and basic device information at the time of the crash, such as Android version, device model, available memory and device orientation.

Identifiers:

Firebase may generate a random installation identifier.

This identifier is not your name, phone number or advertising ID. It is reset when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

Approximate region:

Google Analytics may derive a country or region from your network address when the data is received. The network address itself is not retained by the app.

Information Not Sent by the App:

The app does not intentionally send your location or coordinates, route, address, journey or drive identifier, exact speed, name, email address, phone number, contacts or information that you type as part of usage events or crash reports.

The app does not read or send your advertising ID and does not use this data for advertising.

Google Firebase:

This data is processed by Google as our service provider.

The data  is not sold by the app and is not shared by the app with other parties.

Google's terms and privacy practices for Firebase apply to this processing.

GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES

The installed app may also communicate with Google Play services or the Google Play Store for functions such as checking for app updates or displaying an in-app rating prompt.

Such communication is handled by Google Play services or the Google Play Store and is separate from the app's own location and journey processing.

YOUR DRIVES AND ANDROID BACKUP

The app stores your journeys, odometer information and settings in a private database on your device.

This database may be included in Android's Auto Backup feature, depending on the backup settings configured on your device.

If Android Auto Backup is enabled, your journey history may be copied to your own Google account and restored to another device when you set up that device using the same Google account.

This is handled through Android and your Google account. It is not the app sending your  journey data to us, and we do not receive or process your backup data.

For this reason, this policy states that your drives are never sent to us rather than stating that they always remain only on the physical device.

You can manage or disable Android Auto Backup through your device's system settings.

DELETING YOUR DATA

Clear Drive History

Settings > Clear drive history removes recorded drives, samples and routes from the app after confirmation.

Your lifetime odometer total is retained, and the app informs you of this before you confirm the action.

Uninstalling the app

Uninstalling the app removes the data stored by the app on the device, subject to Android system behavior and any backups created by Android.

Clearing App Storage

Using Android's Clear Storage option for this app removes the data stored by the app, including the odometer and preferences.

Disabling Usage and Crash Data

Settings > Privacy > Share usage and crash data can be turned off at any time.

Turning this option off stops further collection by the app and clears analytics data held locally by the SDK, where applicable.

The random Firebase installation identifier is discarded when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

Journey Data

Your journeys are stored by the app on your device. If Android Auto Backup is enabled, Android may also store a backup copy associated with your Google account.

The app does not maintain its own server-side copy of your journeys.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

This app is not directed at children.

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children, does not ask users for their age or birthdate, and does not contain advertising.

ADVERTISING

This version of the app does not contain advertising SDKs and does not display advertisements.

If a future version adds advertising or an advertising SDK, this Privacy Policy and the app's applicable data disclosures will be updated to describe the relevant data practices before that version is published.

PERMISSIONS

Location—Precise and Approximate

The app requests location permission to measure speed, distance and route information.

Notifications

Notifications may be used while a drive is being recorded so that you can see an ongoing notification with controls such as Pause and Finish, including when the screen is off.

Foreground service

The app may use a foreground service to allow drive recording to continue while the screen is off or the app is not currently visible.

Vibration

Vibration may be used when you choose the Vibrate option for speed alerts.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app's data practices or features change.

For example, if advertising is added or additional information is collected in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe those changes.

The Effective Date shown at the beginning of this Privacy Policy will also be updated when appropriate.

GOOGLE MAPS

Your journey details and the Map screen may display your routes using Google Maps.

Google Maps software may request map images, commonly known as map tiles, from Google's servers for the area that you are viewing.

As part of providing Google Maps services, Google may receive your device's IP address and standard technical request information.

Your route itself is drawn by the app on your device and is not sent by this app to Google as a route for storage or processing.

If you have already granted the app location permission, the map may also display your current position as a blue dot.

The app does not request a separate location permission specifically for displaying the map.

Without an internet connection, the map may display previously available map tiles or a blank map background. Your locally stored routes can still be displayed by the app.

If Google Maps is unavailable on your device, the app may display a simplified drawing of your route instead.
